Gettin’ Busy With It!

Wow, summer always has a way of being a whirlwind of things to do, places to go, people to see. And I love it! The gardens are growing well, even though the bunnies did their best to chomp on and taste a little of pretty much everything. Now I have to find new recipes for the fall harvest. I like to try new recipes just for a good change up to the tried and true ones. Anyone out there that can send a favourite that I could share with others? Send me an email please.

This year we have lots of potatoes, kale, onions, garlic and squash (not sure which variety, I think it’s Butternut). Now, once I have finished this post, I will need to go outside and weed the garden and mow the lawn. Never ending things to do to keep busy!

Ya Just Need A Break Sometimes

Grundy Lake Provincial Park

We just got back last week from a very relaxing and much needed break. We explored out own Ontario backyard up north. We stopped off in Massey and camped at the Chutes Provincial Park. At the bottom of the falls there is a swimming hole and a little island you can wade out to for your own personal spot for the day (probably need to get there early to stake your claim). At the end of the day we waded over and there was a treasure trove of driftwood. I picked some pieces for a project I had been thinking about doing. There is also a trail that heads to the head of the river and I highly recommend it. You can proceed on to the more difficult section that will take you to the falls on the other side of the river as well.

Chutes Provincial Park

Pancake Bay was our next stop, and the waters of superior were clear, calm and warm (32 degrees to be exact). In the morning we walked the beach and as we headed back, saw storm clouds in the distance. Just made it back to our site when the clouds opened up! The temperature dropped as well and that night it went down to 9 degrees! Good thing we had our down duvet ( a must for camping, its lightweight and warm and can roll up into practically nothing). Also our massive green tarp (Ray didn’t realize he brought the one that we used when we had our roof leak) which we lovingly dubbed as The Green Goddess kept our tent dry (as people were laughing at us as we were putting it up). They were laughing no more in the morning as they were wringing out their sleeping bags.

On to Schreiber at Rainbow Falls Provincial Park. Absolutely gorgeous! I highly recommend heading up that way if possible. Although we couldn’t have any campfires as there was/is a ban on any fires, it was still purely magical. A lot of great hiking trails to explore and birds to hear. There was a Hermit Thrush that woke us every morning with his song that sounded like a tin flute, it was quite an intricate piece and soothing to the soul.

You can see how dry Rainbow Falls is, usually this falls is pounding down the canyon

The trip heading home we stopped in Wawa at the Outdoorsman Motel. I highly recommend it. It’s clean and has excellent amenities. I met Ray the owner who was very friendly and a great host. In the morning they even gave out homemade cookies made by his wife Lyne to take on the road.

And last we stopped at Grundy Lake Provincial Park. A beautiful park that is surrounded by many lakes you can paddle on. They have canoes and kayaks for rent, or you can bring your own. The general store across from the park has bike rentals as well for a minimal fee. We chose to just hike around the area and picked out some campsites that we’d like for next time we visit. There is also a number of species you can fish if so inclined (fishing permits are required). Once again it rained and the Green Goddess came in handy, lucky for us, others were not so lucky. So if you are camping/tenting a big tarp is a must for your trip!

Back To Reality

Now that I am back, work has begun again. I find after the break I can focus better and think more freely. I did have a massage once I got back and thought, “Well, this is silly, why am I getting a massage after being away and totally relaxed?”. Well, apparently I was not as relaxed as I thought I was because my wonderful masseuse worked my shoulders and pecs, and said “this is not relaxed”. Ooops. Well, my shoulders are quite a mess and she really dug in and got some things worked out and gave me exercises to do to keep them loosened. I have been doing them diligently! I think that is a problem a lot of people get wrong. Do the exercises your therapist gives you to do. They give them to you for a reason, not just for the fun of it. Honest, they really do help.

Not Sure Which Treatment?

Have you seen one of the treatments in my Services that looks ultimately relaxing, but still not sure? You can try a mini-treatment or 2 mini-treatments together. Popular ones are a 30 minute foot Reflexology, or 30 minute Reiki or try a combo 45 minute Indian Head Massage and 30 minute foot Reflexology. Just ask me! I’m here to help with your relaxation and de-stressing time. It’s almost like trying different flavours of ice cream in the same cone!

New Crystals and Stones

Over the past few months I have acquired some new healing crystals and stones that I have purchased and collected on my adventures, and believe me, I have a lot of them, as some are even scattered throughout my gardens. Although I may not always know what they are or their intended purpose, I always trust in their healing powers.

A beautiful example of flourite that

reminds me of the ocean
