I’m hoping that you are enjoying the month of January despite the frigid temperatures. There was a sinus thing going around that put my husband and I out of commission for a few days. I was using one of my homemade lavender and peppermint rollerballs on my sinus and lymph area of my neck to help with inflammation. It did the trick and helped prevent a nasty sinus infection (those are the worst! You know that feeling that your face is going to fall off and you can’t breathe through your nose?). Now that the temps are a little more doable, we have been getting out on some walks to get some fresh air into our lungs. Just taking it easy for a bit, no big hills or rocky terrain for awhile. Definitely dressing in layers for the treks.
Garden Thoughts
Even though we have a couple more months of winter (I like to be optimistic), there is much to do with planning and sorting out what seeds to buy, sort and sow. I have some tomatoes from last year to plant soon. Love my heritage seeds from William Dam Seeds https://damseeds.com . It’s always exciting to plan for the planting season while snow is blowing and icicles are forming. What are you planting in your garden this year? Anything new that you have never tried? What about container planting if you don’t necessarily have any garden area to plant? I would love to hear about any tried and true seeds that you plant, any gardening tips or even any gardening hacks that you could share that would make things easier for others out there. I would love to share your tips with others. Don’t leave your ideas too long on hold, because spring will be here before we know it!

Everyone Needs Some Downtime
What have you been doing this winter to keep those blues at bay? Maybe you have been hiking? Snow biking? Tobogganing with or without the kids? Ice skating? Snowshoeing? Found a new hobby – crafting, pottery, painting, cooking, skiing? Maybe you are more inclined to stay in and read a good book! What have you read lately? I am fond of anything by Maeve Binchy, Nicholas Evans, John Grisham and Nora Roberts. I would love to know who you read! (always looking for more good reads!). Do you have a Little Library in your area? There are some great ones in Cambridge (Galt). Any new recipes that you have discovered? Send them to me and I can share with others! Whatever you do with your downtime, enjoy it and make it a special time whether it is by yourself or with family or friends. Life is precious!
