Are We Having Fun?

Absolutely! And I hope you are as well. I hope you are able to take some time away from your busy schedule and book in some ‘me’ time.

After 18 years of working pretty much every weekend and holiday, I am now able to take some time on my weekends and holidays for family and friends and of course, myself. Sometimes you really don’t realize things that you are missing when you work so much. I realize that I didn’t carve out nearly enough time in my busy schedule to allow for play and downtime. At one point over a couple years I was working 7 days a week pretty much, but that was also to get my business going and get my name out there. Yes, sometimes I didn’t take time for myself, at one point I was juggling schedules and timing and it didn’t always work out so great (once I showed up for work at my full-time job and got in and started doing my thing, and tried to put my walkie-talkie in my pocket, it wouldn’t go in…looked down and to my horror noticed I had my uniform top on inside out!). Lesson learned and thank goodness nobody noticed (ran quickly to the washroom to fix my mistake)!

Lesson: Don’t take too much on or more than you can handle at one time. Mental health is important in day to day activities. It’s okay to say no to some things and to some people (permission granted).

With lots of rain and heat this summer, our garden took a bit of a hit. Too much rain made a lot of our potatoes and onions rot, even though we mounded them. Right now I have been picking the tomatoes once they get some blush on them so they don’t get rot. Just putting them in the window sills to ripen up. Yup, in every window there are tomatoes, even in the bedroom. So this year may not be plentiful, but with all the hard work we did at weeding, and boy did those weeds grow, our harvest will taste even better. How did your garden hold up this year?

Are you planning a trip this year anytime soon? Do you have a wedding to go to? Or maybe up to a cottage with family or friends? Are your feet in tip top shape? Do you need a manicure or a pedicure perhaps? A little polish (I’ve got some pretty ones on the shelf) or maybe even just some callous removal on your feet? I can get you in usually within a day or two, sometimes even the day of! Natural nails, baby! Check out ‘Services‘ to see what treatments I offer, I also have some Combo Specials. Give me a call or text 226-755-0540 to book your appointment.

Whether you are gardening, hiking or hitting the beach, it is important to have a good stretching routine for both hands and feet. For the feet, ankle rotations will help with flexibility while doing sports (beach volleyball, running, jogging, martial arts or just walking). Try to stretch/rotate both feet equally, so when you are doing something, your body isn’t overcompensating. This will help you more than you may think.

Also, if you are gardening, or even doing a hobby such as pottery, knitting or beading, make sure your hands are warmed up and do wrist rotations and flex them back and forth as well as each finger. Don’t forget to wear gloves in the garden so that you don’t get blisters and callouses (guilty!). And hydration is important for joints as well, so grab the H2O and go!

Shhh, okay, okay, not yet! Go back to playing and relaxing!

Till next time, have fun and enjoy! Sandra
