Autumn Tides

I cannot believe it’s the end of October already! The weather has been beautiful even though we badly need rain, well, we needed it more in the summer but that didn’t happen either. Our Boston ferns on our porch are actually still green even after the frost we got the other night; they are usually dried up and ready for the composter, the geraniums are flowering, and a few petunia flowers are belting out some fuschia vibes to brighten things up. I don’t even want to know what winter is going to bring. The calm before the storm? I’m trying to enjoy what we do have right now, getting the outside ready for winter, wrapping statues, putting away patio furniture, emptying rain barrels, etc.

Feeling Humbled!

Thank you to everyone who voted! It really is an honour to receive this award. It makes me proud that people believe in the work that I do to help them achieve their health goals, and the continuous research that I do to help keep up to date with the most recent news and events in the reflexology modality.

PREPPING FOR COLD WEATHER

Get those hands and feet in shape! Cold weather is coming! If you haven’t noticed, the hangnails and dry feet have started. The first thing to do is increase your water intake if you haven’t already. Next is to pumice any dry skin on your feet, or treat yourself to a pedicure (Note: I have added pedicures to my services page). Here is a sweet recipe to help with your dry tootsies.

FOOT SCRUB

Vanilla Java

1/2 cup sugar or turbinado sugar

3 Tbsp instant coffee powder or a fine grind coffee (vanilla flavor if possible)

1/4 cup coconut oil

1/4 cup milk powder

20-30 drops vanilla essential oil

To make, mix together the sugar, coffee powder or fine grind, coconut oil, milk powder in a bowl. Add essential oil and mix well to combine. Put into a mason jar with a tight fitting lid. To use, work about a teaspoon (each foot) of the scrub into wet, freshly washed feet. Work well into the dry areas and between the toes and around the edges of nails. Leave on a few minutes to let the coconut oil work itself into the skin. Rinse well and pat feet dry. Put on a pair of cozy warm socks, as feet may be a little slippery. This mixture should be used up within a month of making, keep in a cool, dry spot.

I hope you give this recipe a try and let me know how you like it! Next blog will be a recipe for those hard working hands! Stay hydrated everyone! Sandra
